It is important for educators to understand and value educational research. This paper will give you the opportunity to read and review a research article in a professional scholarly paper. Research articles, published in education and psychology journals, communicate the results of studies conducted by educational psychologists and teachers.  Your assignment is to write a two page paper reviewing a research article.

Following is a suggested process for writing your paper.

  1. Choose a primary research article from a journal in the CSM library.
  2. Scan the article to be certain that you understand it and are able to find important elements.
  3. Obtain a copy of the article.
  4. Underline the key elements of the study.
  5. Read for depth of understanding - determine how well the study addressed the question and hypothesis.
  6. Write your paper in your own words.  Use quotes and cite ANY TIME you use the author's words.
  7. Write your first draft.  Bring it to class on September 9 for  review by a "critical friend," using a rubric for guidance.
  8. Write a final paper and turn in on September 11. Turn in critical friend rubric and a copy of your article with your paper.
Use the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA) Style and include the following sections in your paper:
